Unidelta

Unidelta is an Italian manufacturer of polypropylene compression fittings, saddle clamps and valves for PE water pipes. At PoolParthub.com you will find Unidelta fittings for pool and irrigation pipework, such as tapping saddles. The right fitting lets you repair or extend an existing line instead of replacing it.

Unidelta clamp saddles and polypropylene pipe fittings

Compression fittings and clamp saddles do the quiet work on a pool installation. They join and branch pressure pipework without glue, they can be undone again, and they let you add a connection to a line that is already buried, clipped to a wall or running through a plant room. Here we list Unidelta parts for exactly that job, starting with the PP clamp saddle 50 mm × ½” female thread, PN 10 – part number 1019050002.

What a clamp saddle does on a pool circuit

A clamp saddle creates a threaded take-off point on an existing round pressure pipe. The two halves of the saddle clamp around the pipe, a gasket seals against the pipe wall, and a hole drilled through the pipe gives access to the flow. Nothing has to be cut out, and the run itself stays in place.

On pool and irrigation systems that is useful in a long list of situations:

  • Dosing injection points – a ½” female thread accepts an injection valve for chlorine or pH correction downstream of the filter and heater.
  • Probe and sensor holders – pH, redox and temperature sensor housings are commonly supplied with ½” male threads.
  • Pressure gauges and manometers – a tapping ahead of or after the filter for monitoring.
  • Top-up and drain lines – a small branch for automatic water level make-up, a bleed point or a sampling tap.
  • Garden and irrigation take-offs – a spur from a buried PE main without breaking into the run.

Sizes, threads and pressure ratings explained

Three numbers describe a saddle of this type, and all three have to match what is already installed.

  • Pipe size – 50 mm refers to the outside diameter of the pipe the saddle clamps onto, not the internal bore. Polyethylene and PVC pressure pipe are both specified by outside diameter, so a 50 mm saddle sits on 50 mm pipe regardless of wall thickness.
  • Branch thread – ½” female here, which takes a standard ½” male threaded fitting, nipple, valve or sensor holder.
  • Pressure class – PN 10 indicates a nominal 10 bar rating. Domestic pool circulation normally runs at a small fraction of that, so the rating gives comfortable headroom on filtration and distribution lines.

If you are unsure of the pipe size, measure the outside diameter with a caliper or wrap a tape around the pipe and divide the circumference by 3.14. Markings printed along the length of PE and PVC pipe usually state the diameter and pressure class as well.

Fitting and sealing a saddle correctly

The sealing performance of a clamp saddle depends almost entirely on the preparation. Clean the pipe where the saddle will sit, so that no grit sits between the gasket and the pipe wall. Drill the pipe with a hole saw sized to the saddle outlet rather than a twist bit, and deburr the edges so that no swarf is left inside the pipe to end up in a pump basket or filter.

Seat the gasket in its recess before offering the saddle up to the pipe, then tighten the bolts progressively and in a diagonal pattern so the halves close squarely. Plastic threads do not need force: use PTFE tape or a suitable thread sealant on the male fitting entering the ½” branch, and stop as soon as the joint is firm. Always pressurise and check for weeping before backfilling a trench or closing up a wall, and where the fitting will be permanently exposed to strong sunlight, consider shielding it in a valve box or chamber.

Choosing the right saddle for your pipe

Before ordering, check the pipe outside diameter, the thread size of whatever you intend to screw into the branch, and whether the pipe is sound at the chosen point — old, scored or deformed pipe will not seal reliably. Leave enough clearance around the pipe for a spanner or socket to reach the bolts, and position the branch so the accessory above it can be read, serviced or removed later.

Unidelta at PoolParthub.com

Here you will find Unidelta polypropylene fittings for pool and water pipework, including the 50 mm × ½” female thread clamp saddle rated PN 10. Part numbers such as 1019050002 are listed with the products so the right item can be identified without guesswork.

These fittings are stocked because they solve a problem that comes up constantly during pool servicing and upgrades: adding a dosing point, a gauge or a sensor to pipework that is already in place. Being able to order a single saddle in the correct diameter and thread saves cutting into a working circuit.
