Prozone

Prozone makes plumbing fittings for pool and spa systems, including saddle clamps that add a threaded outlet to existing pipework. At PoolParthub.com you will find Prozone saddle clamps such as the 1.5″ model with a 3/4″ FPT outlet, plus other fittings for pool and spa plumbing. The right part lets you repair a system instead of replacing it.

Prozone pool and spa ozone fittings

Prozone is a name associated with ozone treatment equipment for swimming pools and spas, where a generator produces ozone that is introduced into the circulation pipework and mixed with the water before it returns to the pool. A system like that is only as reliable as the small plumbing parts that connect it to the pipe run, and those fittings are the items that most often need replacing. Here you will find the Prozone plumbing hardware used to tap into rigid pipework, including the 1.5″ saddle clamp with 3/4″ FPT outlet (SPPZ114P).

What a saddle clamp does in an ozone line

A saddle clamp is a two-piece collar that wraps around an existing length of rigid pipe and provides a threaded take-off point without the need to cut the line and glue in a tee. A hole is drilled through the pipe wall, the saddle is clamped over it with a gasket between the saddle body and the pipe, and the threaded outlet then accepts an injector, a check valve assembly, a hose barb or a short nipple.

In ozone and chemical feed installations this arrangement is used for several jobs:

  • Ozone injection – feeding ozone-laden air or an injector assembly into the return line downstream of the heater.
  • Suction side take-off – supplying a venturi or injector loop that draws gas into the flow.
  • Chemical dosing – providing an entry point for a feed line from a dosing pump or erosion feeder.
  • Instrumentation – mounting a probe housing, pressure gauge or air bleed where no spare port exists.

The appeal is practical. Retro-fitting a tee into a tight plant room means cutting the pipe, finding space for couplings and waiting for solvent cement to cure. A saddle clamp can be added to a straight run with a drill and a spanner, and it can be removed again later if the installation is reconfigured.

Identifying the right size before ordering

Two measurements matter, and they are easy to confuse. The first is the pipe the saddle has to sit on; the second is the thread on the outlet.

  • Pipe size – the SPPZ114P is made for 1.5″ pipe. That is a nominal size, not the outside diameter, so measure the pipe you have and compare it with the standard dimensions for the system it belongs to rather than assuming. Imperial PVC and metric PVC of a similar nominal size are not interchangeable under a saddle, because the curvature of the saddle body has to match the pipe for the gasket to seal evenly.
  • Outlet thread – 3/4″ FPT means a female pipe thread, so the part that screws into it carries a male tapered thread. Check what is already on the end of your ozone tubing, injector or check valve before ordering adapters.
  • Pipe condition – a saddle needs a sound, round, unmarked section of pipe. Pipe that has been clamped before, is scored, or sits immediately next to a fitting or bend rarely seals well.
  • Clearance – allow room above the outlet for the fitting, tubing and any check valve, and for a spanner to reach the clamp hardware.

Fitting and maintenance points

Drill the tapping hole squarely and deburr the inside edge so that swarf does not travel to the pump basket or filter. Seat the gasket cleanly over the hole, then tighten the clamp evenly from side to side rather than fully torquing one side first; uneven pressure is the usual cause of a weeping saddle. Use PTFE tape or a thread sealant suitable for plastic threads on the outlet, and tighten threaded plastic parts by hand plus a short turn with a tool, since over-tightening splits female threads.

When an existing saddle leaks, the gasket is the first thing to inspect. Ozone is a strong oxidiser, so gaskets, tubing and check valves in an ozone line age faster than the same parts elsewhere in the circuit and are worth checking at each service. Also confirm that a check valve is present and working, because it is what prevents water backing up the gas line towards the generator.

Here we list the Prozone plumbing parts that keep an ozone installation connected to the circulation pipework, beginning with the 1.5″ saddle clamp with 3/4″ FPT outlet, reference SPPZ114P. Ordering the original fitting rather than a generic alternative means the saddle curvature, gasket and thread match the system that was installed, which matters more on a gas line than on ordinary plumbing.

If you are unsure which part number you are looking at, note the pipe size, the thread on the existing outlet and any reference moulded into the old clamp body before ordering. Those three details are usually enough to confirm a match.
