Astralpool Xtreme roller circlip (Ø21 mm)

This is the genuine Astralpool roller circlip — a small but safety-critical retaining ring with a 21 mm diameter — designed to lock the cleaning roller axle securely within the drive assembly of Xtreme series robotic pool cleaners. Without it, the roller cannot be held in its correct axial position, causing it to migrate laterally and lose contact with the pool surface. It is listed as a discrete numbered spare on the Xtreme exploded-parts diagram and sold separately from the companion roller washer (rondelle rouleaux).

Function in the drive train

The circlip seats into a machined groove on the roller shaft and bears the axial load that would otherwise cause the roller assembly to shift sideways during normal operation. On Aquatron-platform robots such as the Xtreme range, rollers run under continuous mechanical stress from the traction belt system; a correctly fitted circlip maintains roller alignment, preserves even brush-to-surface contact, and prevents premature wear of the shaft groove itself.

Compatible models

This circlip is a shared spare across the Astralpool Xtreme 1 (ref. 49796), Xtreme 2 (ref. 49798) and Xtreme 3 (ref. 49799) robotic pool cleaners. It appears on the exploded-parts diagram as part number 40 (Xtreme 1) and the equivalent position on the Xtreme 2 and Xtreme 3 parts breakdowns. Always cross-reference your robot’s exploded diagram before ordering to confirm the correct position.

When to replace it

Replace this circlip if you notice the cleaning roller shifting sideways during a cleaning cycle, if the robot leaves uneven cleaning tracks on the pool floor, or if on inspection the circlip is found to be sprung open, deformed, or has jumped its shaft groove. A missing or fatigued circlip will allow the roller to wobble axially and can accelerate wear on the roller bearing and the surrounding flange.

Why genuine matters

Third-party circlips cut to the wrong spring tension or diameter will seat poorly in the shaft groove and are liable to disengage under load — exactly the failure mode you are trying to correct. The genuine Astralpool part is manufactured to the precise Ø21 mm groove specification of the Xtreme roller shaft, ensuring a secure snap-fit and reliable retention throughout the robot’s service interval.
