The Sugar Valley / Hayward Redox Control Kit Standard (E-OPTION-REDOX) is an expansion module that adds automatic ORP (oxidation-reduction potential) measurement and control to compatible Sugar Valley and Hayward salt chlorination systems. By continuously monitoring the redox value of your pool water, the system can automatically regulate chlorine production in real time — ensuring the water is always effectively disinfected without the risk of over-chlorination.

Redox (ORP) is the most direct indicator of the actual disinfecting power of water — far more meaningful than a simple chlorine percentage or timer setting. A pool with a redox value between 650 and 750 mV is reliably safe and comfortable. The E-OPTION-REDOX kit enables the chlorinator to target and maintain that range automatically, adjusting output up or down as bather load, temperature, sunlight, and other factors change throughout the day.

What is redox/ORP control and why does it matter?

Free chlorine concentration alone does not tell you how effective your pool’s disinfection is — pH, temperature, and stabiliser levels all affect the actual sanitising power. ORP (oxidation-reduction potential), measured in millivolts (mV), captures the net disinfecting capacity of the water regardless of these variables. Controlling chlorine production based on ORP rather than a fixed timer or percentage is the most reliable way to ensure consistent, safe water quality while minimising chemical use.

The E-OPTION-REDOX kit includes everything needed for installation: an electronic expansion chip, a titanium-tip crystal redox probe, a lockable bypass probe holder with measuring cup, probe filter, 3 metres of hose, and calibration solutions. Installation connects directly to the chlorinator’s expansion port — no additional power supply or controller required.

Real-time monitoring via Poolwatch app

When combined with a Wi-Fi module, the current ORP value is visible in real time through the Poolwatch app (iOS & Android), alongside chlorine production status and other water parameters.
