Poolex – Optimax Filtration Balls 700 g (25 kg Sand Equivalent)

The Poolex Optimax filtration balls, model PF-OPTIBALL700C, are a 700 g pack of filter media for pool filtration, listed as the equivalent of 25 kg of sand. The pack comes in a cardboard box and is aimed at pool owners who want filtration balls in place of sand in a filter that calls for 25 kg of sand.

Key features

This product belongs to the Poolex Optimax filtration range and is sold as a single 700 g pack. The catalogue gives its sand equivalent as 25 kg, which is the figure to keep in mind when you compare it with the filter you already own.

• Brand: Poolex, product line Optimax
• Product type: filtration balls (filter media)
• Pack content: 700 g
• Stated equivalent: 25 kg of sand
• Supplied in a cardboard box

How it works

Filtration balls are used as the filter medium inside a pool filter, the role traditionally filled by sand in a sand filter. Water from the pool circulates through the medium in the filter tank, and the medium holds back impurities before the water returns to the pool. The Optimax pack is listed against 25 kg of sand, so it is intended to fill the same role in a filter of that sand capacity.

The catalogue entry for this model gives no further technical data, so the pack is best understood as a straightforward replacement medium rather than a complete filtration system.

Which size to choose

The key figure is the sand quantity your filter needs. This 700 g pack corresponds to 25 kg of sand, so it suits a filter that takes that amount. Before ordering, check the user manual or the data plate of your filter to find the recommended sand quantity, and compare it with the 25 kg equivalent shown here.

If your filter needs a different quantity of sand, look at the other pack sizes in the Optimax filtration range rather than adjusting the quantity yourself. Always follow the instructions of your filter manufacturer when changing the filter medium.

What is included

The product is the filtration balls only, supplied in a cardboard box. The filter tank, pump, valve and any other pool equipment are not part of this item and must be bought separately if you need them.
