Marlig Industries – SB-Pool Leak Sealer for Pools and Hot Tubs, 1 Litre

SB-Pool Leak Sealer (part number 74725) is a concentrated liquid leak sealer for swimming pools and hot tubs. It is designed to seal minor leaks in the shell and in the plumbing, and it is added to the water while the circulation pump runs. Supplied in a 1 litre bottle, it suits both spa and pool volumes thanks to the dosing rates given below.

What this pool and hot tub leak sealer does

SB-Pool Leak Sealer is a fast-acting, blended concentrate for small leaks. It is intended for holes in the shell as well as in the pipework, and it forms a permanent seal over small holes.

It is a treatment for minor leaks only. Measure the water loss over 24 hours first, so you know how much product you need.

Suitable surfaces and materials

The sealer can be used on a wide range of materials found in pools and spas:

• Acrylic and fibreglass
• Concrete and wood
• Vinyl and paint
• PVC and ABS
• Copper and steel pipes

Dosing and how to use it

Recommended dosing is 25 ml of product per 2,000 litres of water in a spa, or 1 litre per 80,000 litres of water in a pool. In outline, the procedure is as follows:

• Measure the water level drop over 24 hours to work out the dose, then fill the hot tub to its original level and mark the water line.
• Remove all filter cartridges or other filtration devices. With a sand filter, set the valve to ‘Recirculate’.
• Shake the bottle well, as the product is heavy and sinks to the bottom. Standing the bottle in hot water beforehand helps it mix properly.
• With the pump(s) running, add the dose gradually into the skimmer. In overflow pools, add it directly into the pool near the pulse jets. Open all massage jets as well.
• Keep the filtration running in recirculation until the leak is sealed.
• Check the water level for 2 to 3 days. If it stays the same, the leak has stopped.
• Refit the filtering elements and return the system to the ‘filtration’ position.

Restrictions and precautions

Do not use SB-Pool Leak Sealer if your heater has a pressure switch, as the product may block the orifice.

Avoid using the spa until the leak is fixed and any remaining sealer has been filtered out or drained from the spa or hot tub.

If needed, the treatment can be repeated, but the concentration must not exceed 5 litres per 80 m³. Beyond that, change the water before using the pool.
