Balboa – Niagara 3 HP Single-Speed Spa Massage Pump

The Balboa Niagara 3 HP single-speed massage pump (P529136-S, previously called the Ultimax) is a replacement hot tub pump for Balboa Ultima, Ultimax, Ultrajet and Durajet single-speed pumps. Its low height means it can be installed in tight spaces, such as under the spa steps.

Compatibility: replacing Ultima, Ultimax, Ultrajet and Durajet pumps

The Niagara 3 HP is a single-speed spa pump intended to replace a Balboa Ultima, Ultimax, Ultrajet or Durajet pump. The Ultimax is the earlier name of this model, so an old Ultimax pump is a direct match for this Niagara.

Because the pump is compact in height, it is often found in the lower part of the cabinet, for example under the spa steps.

Dimensions and connections

Check that the pump fits your equipment compartment before ordering:

The connections are male threaded, with an asymmetric MBT 2-inch thread (outside diameter 78 mm). The pump is normally connected to 2-inch pipes. The pump unions are not included, but they are available as an optional extra.

Cables and plugs

The Niagara 3 HP is delivered pre-cabled with an AMP plug on a 250 cm cable.

If your spa is equipped with a mini J&J plug, choose the AMP plug option and use an adapter from AMP to mini J&J, which is sold separately. Alternatively, you can reuse the cable from your existing pump if it is in good condition.

This 3 HP pump is rated at 2.5 kW and draws 11.5 A.

Spare parts for this pump are available, including the capacitor, so you can service the pump rather than replace it completely when only a small part has failed.
