AstralPool – Pre-filter Basket for Big Discovery Pump (DY550T60)

This is the genuine AstralPool replacement pre-filter basket for the Big Discovery pump (model DY550T60). Sitting at position 4 in the official Fluidra exploded diagram, it is the first line of defence in your pump’s filtration circuit — intercepting leaves, hair, and coarse debris before they can reach the impeller. Replacing a worn or damaged basket promptly keeps water flowing freely and protects the pump’s internal components.

How it works

The pre-filter basket sits inside the pump’s pre-filter housing and retains larger particles, preventing them from entering the pump’s turbine and causing blockages or premature wear. Regular removal and rinsing of the basket is one of the most important routine maintenance tasks for any pool pump, and having a genuine replacement basket on hand means downtime is kept to a minimum.

Compatibility

This basket is designed and specified exclusively for the AstralPool Big Discovery pump range bearing model code DY550T60. Always cross-reference the pump’s model code and the exploded-view position (position 4) before ordering to confirm fitment. It is not guaranteed to be interchangeable with other AstralPool pump families such as the Sena, Victoria Plus, or Alaska Plus.

Why genuine matters

Genuine AstralPool spare parts are manufactured to the exact tolerances of the original equipment, ensuring a secure, rattle-free fit inside the pre-filter housing and a reliable seal with the pump lid. Third-party alternatives may differ in basket height, mesh aperture, or rim diameter, which can allow debris to bypass the basket and reach the impeller. Choosing an official part also preserves any remaining warranty on your pump.
