Pleatco
Pleatco makes pool and spa filtration products, including thread adapters designed to fit its own filters. At PoolParthub.com you will find filter adapters and fittings that help you connect and maintain your filtration system correctly. With the right part to hand, you can repair your filter instead of replacing the whole unit.
Pleatco filter parts and adapters
Pleatco is a name most pool and spa owners meet through filter cartridges — the pleated elements that sit inside a cartridge housing and catch everything the water carries. Alongside those elements sit the smaller pieces that make a filter work as a system: the fittings, threaded connections and adapters that join a housing to the pipework around it. Here we list the Pleatco parts held at PoolParthub.com, currently the F2M 2″ MPT filter thread adapter.
Wat de F2M-adapter doet
The F2M is a threaded adapter with a 2″ MPT connection, intended for use with Pleatco filters. MPT stands for male pipe thread, so the 2″ threaded end screws into a matching female port — typically a filter inlet or outlet, a union, or a length of threaded pipework on the suction or return side of the circuit.
Adapters of this kind are needed whenever the filter body and the plumbing around it do not share the same connection. That happens more often than people expect: a filter is replaced with a different model, a pipe run is rebuilt in a different diameter, or an older installation uses fittings that are no longer matched to the new housing. Rather than re-plumbing a whole section, a correctly sized adapter bridges the gap at a single joint.
Checking the thread before you order
Threaded pool fittings look similar to one another and are easy to confuse, so it is worth confirming a few details against the part already fitted:
- Nominale maat — 2″ refers to the nominal pipe size, not the measured diameter of the thread itself. Measuring the outside diameter of a 2″ male thread will give a figure larger than two inches, which is normal.
- Male or female — MPT is the male half, with the thread on the outside. If the port on the filter or pipework is also male, a female fitting or a union is needed instead.
- Thread standard — MPT fittings follow the tapered NPT standard used widely in pool plumbing. BSP threads, common in some European installations, have a different pitch and thread form and will not seal correctly against NPT, even where the two appear to engage by hand.
- Position on the exploded view — if the filter came with a parts diagram, matching the position number of the existing fitting is the quickest way to confirm what the housing was designed to take.
- Condition of the mating port — a cracked or cross-threaded port on the filter body will not seal against a new adapter, so inspect both halves before fitting.
Montage en afdichting
Tapered pipe threads seal on the thread itself rather than on a flat face, so they need a thread sealant — PTFE tape wound in the direction of the thread, or a sealant paste approved for use with plastics. The joint should be tightened by hand and then given a modest amount of extra turn with a strap wrench or spanner. Over-tightening is the most common cause of failure: plastic threads split under load, and a hairline crack in a housing port is far more work to put right than a weeping joint.
Once the adapter is in place, run the pump and check the joint under pressure before closing up any pit or enclosure. On the suction side a poor seal draws air rather than leaking water, so look for bubbles in the pump strainer basket or at the return inlets as well as for visible drips. Shut the pump down and relieve pressure in the filter before doing any further work on the connection.

The Pleatco range here covers filter hardware rather than consumables, beginning with the F2M 2″ MPT thread adapter for Pleatco filters. It is the kind of small component that holds up an otherwise simple job — a filter swap, a pipework repair, a seasonal reassembly — and is rarely kept on hand in a plant room.
Part numbers are listed as the manufacturer supplies them, so the code stamped on an old fitting or printed on a parts diagram can be matched directly. If the thread on your installation turns out to be a different size or standard, the wider selection of unions, adapters and filter fittings elsewhere on the site covers most of the connections found on pool and spa filter housings.
