Polytropic

Polytropic makes heat pump components for pools, such as the touchscreen controller used on Master Inverter and Elite R290 units. At PoolParthub.com you will find touchscreen controllers and related heat pump parts, so your pool heater keeps running at the temperature you want. The right part lets you repair instead of replace the whole unit.

Polytropic heat pump parts and controls

Polytropic builds swimming pool heat pumps, and like every heat pump they are made up of a sealed refrigeration circuit, a hydraulic circuit and an electronic control section. The refrigeration side is usually the most durable part of the machine; the parts that are asked to work hardest in daily use are the ones exposed to weather, vibration and the hands of whoever sets the water temperature. The control panel is the clearest example. Here you will find the Polytropic replacement parts listed on this site, with the model families they belong to named in full so that you can match a part to your own unit before ordering.

Models covered on this page

The parts listed here relate to the following Polytropic ranges:

  • Master Inverter — inverter-driven pool heat pumps, where compressor speed is varied rather than simply switched on and off.
  • Elite R290 — units running on R290 propane refrigerant, a natural refrigerant with a very low global warming potential.

Both families are operated through a colour touchscreen interface rather than a simple keypad, which is why the display is a serviceable item with its own part reference. The current replacement listed is the 4-inch TFT touchscreen under reference EL0101004.

Why a heat pump display is replaced

A pool heat pump sits outdoors all season, often against a wall where it catches sun, rain and splash water. The control panel is the thinnest barrier between the electronics and all of that. Typical reasons an owner ends up looking for a new display are:

  • Moisture ingress — a perished gasket or a cracked housing lets water behind the glass, and the screen starts to show ghost lines, blotches or a dead area.
  • Unresponsive touch zones — the panel lights up and shows the temperature, but one or two buttons no longer register.
  • Impact or frost damage — a knock during winterising, or ice forming against the front of the cabinet.
  • UV ageing — years of direct sunlight dull the front surface and make the display hard to read in daylight.
  • Cable or connector faults — the ribbon or plug between the screen and the main board works loose or corrodes.

In many of these cases the heat pump itself is mechanically sound. The compressor runs, the fan turns, the water circuit is intact — the owner simply cannot read or set anything. Replacing the interface is a far smaller job than replacing a machine.

Identifying the right part before you order

Pool heat pump displays are not interchangeable between brands or even between generations of the same brand, so it is worth spending a few minutes confirming what you have.

  • Start with the rating plate — the label on the side or rear of the cabinet gives the model name and the commercial reference. Photograph it; it is easier than crawling back behind the unit twice.
  • Check the series name — Master Inverter and Elite R290 are named on the casing or in the manual. A part listed for those ranges is not automatically correct for an older or different Polytropic model.
  • Measure the screen — a 4-inch panel is measured diagonally across the active display area, not across the bezel. If what you have is visibly larger or smaller, you are looking at a different part.
  • Look at the connector — note how many pins the cable has and how it clips in, so you can compare before fitting.
  • Quote the part reference — EL0101004 identifies this display exactly and avoids any ambiguity over wording or translation.

If an exploded view came with the unit, the position number next to the display on that drawing is another reliable way to confirm you are ordering the same item the manufacturer fitted.

Fitting and general care

Always isolate the heat pump at the dedicated circuit breaker before opening any panel, and give the unit a few minutes before touching internal components. Work dry, keep the new screen in its packaging until the moment it goes in, and seat the gasket properly so the join is sealed again. Route the cable so it cannot chafe against a sharp edge or sit in the path of condensate. Over the longer term, keeping the front of the unit out of standing water and covering the machine sensibly over winter does more than anything else to extend the life of the electronics.

Polytropic at PoolParthub.com

Here we list Polytropic service parts for pool heat pumps, beginning with the 4-inch TFT touchscreen for the Master Inverter and Elite R290 ranges. Parts are listed with their manufacturer reference so that there is no guesswork about which version fits.

The aim is simple: keep a working heat pump in service. A failed display, a perished seal or a damaged control is a small component in a large and valuable machine, and having the correct replacement available means the pool stays heated instead of the whole unit being written off.
