Poolstar Freeflo Racer strainer pot lid

This is the genuine Poolstar replacement lid for the strainer pot on the Freeflo Racer filtration pump. It seals the pre-filter strainer housing, keeping system pressure contained and allowing you to inspect or clean the basket without disturbing the pipework. When the original lid cracks, warps, or loses its seal, flow drops and the pump loses prime.

The lid threads or clips onto the strainer pot body and, together with its mating O-ring, maintains an airtight seal between the suction side and atmosphere. The clearest indicator is a pump that repeatedly loses prime or produces an audible hissing at the strainer pot. You may also notice the lid is visibly cracked, the thread has stripped so it no longer torques down firmly, or the lid body has whitened and become brittle from prolonged UV exposure. A lid that flexes under hand pressure is no longer serviceable — it will not hold a vacuum under load.

Switch off and isolate the pump at the breaker before opening the strainer pot. Relieve any residual line pressure, then unscrew or unclip the old lid. Inspect the O-ring groove on the pot body and clean away any scale or debris. Fit a replacement O-ring if yours is flattened or split, seat the new lid, and hand-tighten until snug — do not use tools, as over-torquing the thermoplastic thread will cause the very cracking you are replacing. Reopen the isolation valves, restore power, and check for leaks at the lid joint.
