This is the genuine Zodiac ril clamp (collier à ril) for the Vortex 3 Saphir robotic pool cleaner. It is a small but critical retaining collar that snaps into the groove (ril/rainure) on the wheel axle shaft, locking the drive or idler wheel securely in its lateral position and preventing it from walking off the axle during operation.

Function and location

Seated in the machined circumferential groove on the wheel axle, the ril clamp acts as a positive axial stop. Without it, lateral thrust generated during the robot’s turning manoeuvres can cause the wheel to migrate along the shaft, leading to misalignment, uneven traction and accelerated wear on adjacent components such as the pinion and bearing.

This part is listed specifically against the Zodiac Vortex 3 Saphir (model reference W9300).
