VGE Pro low pressure UV systems for pool and water treatment

UV disinfection works by passing water through a chamber in which a low pressure ultraviolet lamp is mounted inside a quartz sleeve. The water never touches the lamp, and nothing is added to it: the UV-C light simply reduces the ability of micro-organisms to reproduce. In pool water it is used alongside the normal filtration circuit to keep the water clear and to help reduce the load on chemical treatment, and in process and irrigation water it is used as a stand-alone disinfection stage.

Here you will find VGE Pro low pressure systems together with the control units that drive them. The range runs from compact units intended for modest flow rates up to large flanged vessels for commercial installations, so the first job is always to match the lamp power and the connection size to the pipework and flow of the system.

Cosa comprende la gamma

The units listed here are described by three things: the housing material, the connection, and the lamp power in watts. Taken together those give the model reference printed on the unit and used in the article name.

  • Lamp power — smaller systems at 40W, 75W and 80W, mid-range units at 140W and 200W, and larger systems at 400W, 600W, 975W and 1950W.
  • Threaded and socket connections — 3/4″, 1½” and 2″ on stainless steel chambers, plus 76mm, 110mm and 160mm on the HDPE versions.
  • Flanged vessels — DN65, DN100, DN125, DN160, DN225 and DN250, for installation in larger pipework.
  • Unità di controllo — separate Basic control units such as the Basic 40/75/80 and the Basic 140, which house the electronics for the lamp.
  • Model suffixes — references like 200-76, 200-110, 75-114, 600-219 and 1950-306 combine the lamp power with a chamber or connection figure, and are the quickest way to confirm you are looking at the right version.

HDPE or stainless steel

Stainless steel chambers are the traditional choice for pool circuits and for installations where the unit is pressurised and mechanically loaded. HDPE chambers are plastic-bodied and are often preferred where the water or the surrounding environment is aggressive, or where the plumbing is already in PE or PVC pipe of the same diameter. Several of the larger stainless models are specified as 6 bar flanged vessels; always check the pressure rating stated on the unit against the working pressure of your own system before fitting.

Where a flange is used, the bolt pattern follows the DN size, so a DN100 unit replaces into DN100 pipework. With the threaded and socket versions, measure the existing pipe rather than assuming: 2″ threaded and 76mm socket connections appear on units of the same wattage and are not interchangeable.

Basic, Control Timer and Control Monitor

VGE Pro systems are supplied with different levels of control, and this is the distinction most often missed when ordering.

  • Basic — straightforward lamp control, with the electronics in a separate control unit on larger models.
  • Control Timer — adds an operating hours counter, so the lamp can be changed on elapsed running time rather than guesswork.
  • Control Monitor — adds a UV sensor that measures the intensity actually reaching the water, which also flags a fouled quartz sleeve or an ageing lamp.

A Control Monitor version of a given wattage is not the same article as the Timer or Basic version, even where the chamber is identical, so quote the full article number when replacing a unit.

Service parts and identification

The parts that are consumed in normal use are the UV lamp, the quartz sleeve and the sealing rings at each end of the sleeve. Lamp output falls gradually over its service life, which is why the Timer and Monitor versions exist; scale or film on the quartz sleeve has the same effect and is cleaned or replaced as part of routine servicing. When ordering, note the article number from the label on the housing or control unit, the lamp wattage, and the connection size. If the label is unreadable, measure the connection, count the lamps in the chamber and measure the sleeve length before choosing a replacement.

Here we list the VGE Pro low pressure programme across both housing materials, from 40W units on 3/4″ connections through to 1950W flanged vessels, in Basic, Control Timer and Control Monitor execution, together with the separate Basic control units.

Keeping the full span of wattages and connections side by side makes it practical to find a direct equivalent for an existing installation, or to step up to a sensor-monitored version while keeping the same pipe size. If a model reference on your unit does not appear in the list, the wattage and connection size are usually enough to identify the right alternative.
