Rated to 16 bar for water and 10 bar for gas, this Profec 40 mm PE100 electrofusion socket is an SDR11-class fitting designed for permanent, leak-free joints in pool plant rooms, underground supply lines, and gas distribution networks. Welding is performed at 24 V AC via standard electrofusion control units, producing a molecularly fused connection that matches the strength of the parent pipe. Embedded resistance coils inside the socket carry the 24 V AC welding current, generating localised heat exactly at the pipe-to-fitting interface. The melted polyethylene fuses on cooling to create a homogeneous, fully sealed joint — no open flame, no mechanical compression fittings, and no additional sealants required. This makes the technique well suited to confined plant-room spaces and to below-ground applications where access after installation is limited.
