Profec – PE100 Electrofusion Socket 125 mm SDR11 DVGW

Rated to 16 bar for water and 10 bar for gas service, this 125 mm DN125 electrofusion socket is manufactured in high-density PE100 polyethylene to SDR11 wall-thickness class — making it one of the heaviest-duty straight couplers in the Profec range. Designed for joining two lengths of PE pipe in a straight run, it welds at 40 V AC using any standard electrofusion control unit and is DVGW-certified for use in drinking-water and gas distribution networks across Europe.

Electrofusion joining process

An embedded resistance-wire coil inside the socket bore melts the pipe and fitting surfaces together when the 40 V AC supply is connected via the 4 mm electrical connectors. The expanding melt activates visible weld indicators, giving the installer an unambiguous, on-site confirmation that fusion is complete — no destructive testing required. The resulting joint is monolithic PE, with mechanical strength equivalent to the parent pipe.

Pressure rating & certification

The SDR11 wall ratio delivers a 16 bar pressure rating in water service and 10 bar in gas service — figures formally verified by the DVGW (Deutsche Vereinigung des Gas- und Wasserfaches) type-approval, one of the most rigorous pipeline-fitting certifications recognised across the EU. This makes the socket fully compliant for use in municipal water supply, industrial process pipework, and pool plant-room headers where high-pressure PE mains pipe enters or exits the building.
