At 225 mm diameter and rated to 16 bar for water and 10 bar for gas, this Profec SDR11 electrofusion socket is one of the larger straight couplers in the PE100 range — suited to high-flow pool plant rooms, irrigation mains, and industrial water distribution where a leak-free, full-bore joint is non-negotiable. Fusion is performed at 40 V AC using a standard electrofusion controller that reads the barcode on the fitting, delivering a repeatable, operator-independent weld every time. DVGW approval confirms compliance with the German technical standard widely recognised across European water and gas installations.

The fitting contains a precisely embedded resistance wire coil. When the electrofusion controller applies 40 V AC, the coil heats the interface between the socket bore and the pipe surface, melting both materials together. Upon cooling, the joint reaches the full pressure rating of the pipe wall — with no mechanical fittings, clamps, or solvents involved. A welding indicator confirms fusion has been achieved before the controller disconnects.

Performances liées au matériau et à la pression

Moulded from PE100 high-density polyethylene, the socket carries the same SDR11 wall-thickness class as the pipe it joins, preserving the full PN16 water pressure rating through the joint. The black colouration is UV-stabilised for above-ground or partially exposed installations. For gas duty the fitting is independently approved to 10 bar, reflecting the standard SDR11 gas pressure classification.

The 225 mm outside-diameter bore accepts standard SDR11 PE100 pipe of the same dimension series. At this size, electrofusion is generally preferred over butt fusion for site repairs or confined-space tie-ins where a butt-welding machine cannot be easily positioned.
