Waterway – Top-Load Extended Filter with Bypass for PRB75 Cartridge

The Waterway Top-Load Extended filter with bypass (part number 502-9988) is a spa filter housing that lets you place your filtration in a convenient location, not necessarily built into the spa shell. It takes a PRB75 filter cartridge, bought separately, and is the “Extended” version of the Top Load skim-filter. What sets it apart is the built-in bypass valve, which makes it a good match for spas with a two-speed pump.

Top-Load design and filter cartridge

This replacement spa filter is designed to be mounted so that the cartridge can be lifted out from above, which is where the name “Top Load” comes from. Because the housing does not have to be integrated in the spa shell, you have some freedom in choosing where to install your filtration system.

The filter is compatible with the PRB75 filter cartridge. The cartridge is not included and has to be purchased separately.

Bypass valve for two-speed pumps

The bypass valve opens when the water pressure is high, which helps to prevent damage to the filter cartridge. This makes the filter well suited to spas fitted with a two-speed pump.

• Pump on low speed: the water is fully filtered.
• Pump on high speed: the valve opens and lets part of the water pass without filtration.

Letting some water bypass the cartridge at high speed also prevents pressure from being lost in the massage jets.

Brominator tube included

The filter is supplied with a brominator tube with a capacity of 10 bromine tablets of 20 g each. The speed at which the bromine is released is adjusted with a rotating disc at the tip of the diffuser.
