Norsup – UV-C Disinfection Unit Supernova 130W Duplex Stainless Steel 50/63mm

Rated at 130 W with a validated UV dose of 30 mJ/cm² and a maximum flow rate of 23 m³/h, the Norsup Supernova is sized for pools up to 90 m³ — covering the majority of private in-ground installations. Its duplex stainless steel reactor housing sets it apart from standard 316L units, offering superior corrosion resistance in saltwater-electrolysis, chlorine-based, and bio pools alike. The dual 50/63 mm glue socket/glue spigot connections with 1½” female thread adapt directly to the most common European pipework standards without additional reducers.

Unlike conventional UV-C lamps, the Supernova uses an Amalgam lamp that delivers a higher, more stable UV output regardless of water temperature fluctuations — an important advantage in outdoor pools where water temperature varies seasonally. Operating at a sustained 30 mJ/cm² dose across the full 23 m³/h flow range ensures reliable inactivation of bacteria, viruses, and chlorine-resistant microorganisms, while allowing a significant reduction in chemical dosing versus chlorine-only treatment.

Duplex stainless steel reactor

The duplex stainless steel vessel combines the austenitic and ferritic microstructure that makes it markedly more resistant to stress corrosion cracking and pitting than standard 316L — particularly relevant in salt-chlorination systems where the water chemistry is aggressive. Rated to 2 bar working pressure, the reactor integrates cleanly into standard residential plant-room pipework and can be oriented horizontally or vertically to suit the available space in the filter room.

Best practice places the UV unit post-filtration and upstream of dosing points, so it receives clean, particle-free water — maximising lamp efficiency and sleeve life. The 50/63 mm glue socket/glue spigot connections pair with standard PVC-U fittings, and the 1½” female thread port accommodates sensors or bypass accessories. As a standalone disinfection stage, the Supernova 130W works alongside an existing chlorinator or salt system, typically allowing chemical dosing to be reduced substantially once the UV stage is commissioned.
