What this foam brush ring does in the Dolphin

The ring is mounted at each end of the combined (Wonder Brush) roller, front and rear. As the roller turns, the foam contacts the pool floor and walls, giving the robot enough grip to climb vertical surfaces and navigate steps. When the foam wears flush with — or below — the bristle line, the robot loses that contact patch and wall-climbing performance drops noticeably.

Signs it needs replacing

Check the ring’s outer edge relative to the brush bristles: if the foam sits level with or below the bristle tips, it is no longer gripping the pool surface. Rougher finishes — gunite and exposed aggregate — accelerate wear and may require seasonal replacement. A robot that used to climb walls reliably but now stalls halfway up, or circles the floor without ascending, is the most common symptom of spent foam rings.

How to install it

Remove the combined brush roller from the robot — on most Supreme M5 units this means releasing the C-clips on the side plates, which requires only a flat-head screwdriver. Slide the worn ring off the roller shaft, push the new ring on until it seats firmly, then refit the roller and clips. The whole job typically takes under ten minutes and no specialist tools.
