Clean both mating faces to remove any debris or old gasket residue, then seat the new concave gasket and hand-tighten the union before applying a final quarter-turn with a strap wrench. Do not over-torque, as this can distort the gasket and reduce sealing performance. A competent pool technician should carry out the work if you are unfamiliar with filter plumbing.
