This is the OEM SKF 6204-2RSH deep-groove ball bearing used in the electric motors of the Kripsol Koral and Mini Kapri pool pump families. It serves as both the front (drive-end) and rear (non-drive-end) motor bearing on all models rated above 1 hp, with the exception of the Mercadal range. When this bearing fails, the motor shaft loses its precise radial support and the pump quickly becomes noisy, then inoperable.

What this bearing does in the Koral and Mini Kapri motor

The 6204-2RSH sits on the motor shaft and carries the combined radial and axial loads generated during pump operation. Its double rubber seals retain the factory-applied grease and exclude pool-area moisture and debris, keeping friction losses to a minimum across the full service life of the motor. Without a serviceable bearing in both positions, shaft wobble accelerates wear on the mechanical seal and impeller.

Which Koral and Mini Kapri models it fits

This bearing fits the front and rear motor positions on Koral KS and KSE models above 1 hp, and on the Mini Kapri series above 1 hp — excluding the Mercadal variant, which uses a different bearing specification. If your pump is rated at 1 hp or below, or if it is a Mercadal model, verify the motor plate before ordering. Signs it needs replacing

A worn bearing announces itself as a continuous grinding or high-pitched squealing from the motor housing, audible even when the pump is running under no hydraulic load. You may also notice intermittent vibration through the pump body, or the motor running hotter than usual. Left unaddressed, a seized bearing will cause the motor winding to burn out — turning a simple bearing swap into a full motor replacement.

How to install it

Motor disassembly is required: remove the end caps, press or tap out the old bearing from the shaft using a bearing puller, and press the replacement squarely onto the shaft journal until fully seated — never strike the outer race to drive it onto the shaft. Both the front and rear positions use the same 6204-2RSH, so replace them as a pair while the motor is open; the labour cost of reopening the motor for a second bearing is not justified. Reassemble, confirm free shaft rotation by hand, then refit to the pump.
