The stud bolt anchors into the pump body and the nut clamps the transparent polycarbonate lid down onto its O-ring seat to maintain a pressure-tight seal. The Koral series closes its prefilter lid using hinged cover screws built around stainless steel stud bolts and captive nuts. When you tighten the nut, it draws the lid squarely against the body O-ring, preventing air ingress and pressure loss. A loose, stripped, or corroded fastener in this assembly is enough to cause the pump to lose prime or leak around the lid.

Isolate the pump from power and close the isolation valves before you start. Unscrew and remove the old stud bolt from the pump body — a flat-blade screwdriver in the stud slot is normally sufficient. Thread the replacement stud in by hand until it seats, then fit the new nut and tighten finger-tight before applying a final quarter-turn. Do not over-torque: the mating body is thermoplastic and the lid is polycarbonate, so clamping force should compress the O-ring evenly without distorting the lid.
