Pentair UltraFlow Plus prefilter basket

This is the genuine OEM prefilter basket for the Pentair UltraFlow Plus pump family. Sitting inside the strainer pot ahead of the impeller, it intercepts leaves, hair, and coarse debris before they reach the pump’s hydraulic internals. Without a serviceable basket in place, debris enters the volute and accelerates wear on the impeller and mechanical seal.

What this prefilter basket does in the UltraFlow Plus

The basket screens all incoming water before it contacts the impeller, acting as the first and only mechanical debris barrier in the pump’s strainer pot. Its extra-large capacity holds a substantial volume of material, extending the interval between clean-outs and reducing the frequency at which you need to open the Cam & Ramp lid. The see-through lid on the UltraFlow Plus lets you judge basket load without removing the cover.

Inspect the basket each time you clean it. Replace it if you see cracked or split ribs, a warped rim that no longer seats flush against the pot, or mesh sections that are broken open — any of these allow debris to bypass the screen and reach the impeller. A basket that has become brittle from prolonged UV or chemical exposure will fail suddenly rather than gradually, so err on the side of early replacement.

Come installarlo

Quarter-turn the Cam & Ramp lid anticlockwise to release it, lift out the old basket, and drop the new one straight in — no tools required. Lubricate the lid O-ring with silicone grease before refitting the cover. Fill the strainer pot to suction-pipe level before restarting the pump to ensure rapid re-priming. The whole swap takes under five minutes with the pump switched off at the isolator.
