It sits between the wet end and the dry motor side, working in conjunction with the casing flange O-ring set (item 16) to maintain a watertight boundary and prevent water ingress towards the motor.

The seal plate closes and registers the rear face of the pump casing, providing the precise mating surface against which the casing flange O-ring seats. Signs it needs replacing

How to install it

Switch off and isolate the pump electrically, close all valves, and drain the pump body via the drain plugs. Remove the four bolts attaching the pump casing to the motor bracket, withdraw the casing, and slide out the old seal plate. Clean the mating surfaces, fit the new plate, reseat the casing flange O-ring with neutral Vaseline, and torque the casing bolts evenly in a cross pattern. Refill, prime, and check for leaks at the joint before returning the pump to service.
