The Hanna Instruments HI981214 is a waterproof pocket-sized tester that measures pH, ORP and temperature in a single handheld unit. It belongs to the Hanna Pool Line range of water-quality instruments used for routine checks on commercial and public pool installations. The tester is intended as a portable alternative to bench meters and photometers for spot-checking water balance and disinfection potential at the poolside.

Ce măsoară

This single instrument covers the three core parameters used to judge pool water condition: pH, ORP (oxidation-reduction potential) and temperature. ORP readings give an indication of the disinfecting power of the water, while pH shows whether the water is drifting acidic or alkaline. Temperature is displayed alongside the readings so results can be interpreted in context.

Poolside use

The tester is designed for handheld use directly at the pool, balance tank or plant room rather than for permanent panel mounting. The waterproof housing allows it to be used with wet hands and in splash-prone areas around the pool deck. Dip the electrode section into a sample or into the water body, allow the reading to stabilise, then rinse the sensor with clean water after each measurement.

Calibrare și întreținere

Accuracy depends on regular calibration with fresh pH buffer solutions and on keeping the sensor hydrated in the correct storage solution. Never store the tester dry, as a dried-out sensor will respond slowly or drift. Rinse after contact with chlorinated or salt water to limit deposit build-up on the sensing surface.

Durata de viață

Electrochemical sensors are consumables: response time slows and calibration becomes unstable as the sensor ages, typically after heavy use in chlorinated water. Replace or service the sensing element when the tester can no longer be calibrated within specification or when readings wander between repeated samples. Batteries should be replaced as soon as the low-battery indication appears to avoid unreliable readings.
