The HI981204 is a handheld, waterproof tester from the Hanna Instruments Pool Line range that measures ORP (redox potential) in millivolts and water temperature in a single instrument. It is used for spot-checking disinfection performance in commercial pools, spas and balance tanks, alongside dosing and controller systems. As a portable meter it complements, rather than replaces, the fixed probes of an automatic dosing installation.

This is a standalone portable tester, not a spare part for a specific controller, so it works with any pool or spa circuit where a manual redox reading is needed. It is commonly used to verify the ORP values reported by inline controllers and dosing panels such as the Hanna BL120 series. Because it also reads temperature, it can be used for routine basin and balance-tank logging.

Mod de utilizare

Dip the sensor section into the water sample or directly into the pool at a representative point away from injection lines, and allow the reading to stabilise. Take samples downstream of the disinfectant injection point so the value reflects the circulating water rather than concentrated dosing product. Rinse the electrode with clean water after each use and store it moist as recommended by the manufacturer.

Durata de viață

The ORP electrode is a consumable element whose response slows as the platinum surface fouls or ages, typically over one to two seasons of regular commercial use. Drifting, slow or unstable readings that do not recover after cleaning indicate the sensor needs attention or replacement. Regular checks against a known ORP reference solution are the simplest way to confirm the tester is still trustworthy.

The tester is supplied as a single instrument; calibration and storage solutions, and any replacement electrode, are ordered separately. It is a measuring device only and does not control or drive a dosing pump. Order one unit per technician or plant room where independent verification of redox values is required.
