Pentair - UltraFlow Plus pump motor 1.50 kW single-phase - RP201
Pentair UltraFlow Plus pump motor 1.50 kW single-phase
This is the genuine Pentair replacement motor for the UltraFlow, WhisperFlo, and SuperFlo pump families, rated at 1.50 kW (2 HP equivalent) on a single-phase supply. It drives the pump’s impeller to circulate and filter pool water, and is the correct power-end replacement when the existing wet end — housing, seal plate, and plumbing — is still serviceable but the motor has failed.
What this motor does in the UltraFlow Plus
The motor converts mains electrical power into shaft rotation, spinning the impeller inside the pump volute to generate flow. On the UltraFlow Plus family this is an induction asynchronous motor with a bi-material shaft — stainless steel AISI 304 at the drive end — and SKF sealed bearings. Built-in thermal protection cuts the motor if it overheats, preventing winding burnout during dry-run or blocked-flow conditions.
Which UltraFlow Plus models it fits
This 1.50 kW single-phase motor is confirmed for the Pentair UltraFlow Plus 2 HP single-phase pump (European model P-UFL-201, 220–240 V, 1-phase), as well as compatible single-phase WhisperFlo and SuperFlo pump models using the same motor frame and shaft specification. Verify your pump’s nameplate voltage, phase count, and frame type before ordering — three-phase and variable-speed pump variants require a different motor.
Signs it needs replacing
Replace this motor when the pump hums but the shaft does not turn (capacitor or winding failure), when it trips the circuit breaker repeatedly under normal load, or when you detect a burning smell or visible scorching on the motor casing. Excessive vibration or grinding from worn SKF bearings is also a clear indicator that the motor — not the wet end — is the source of the fault.
How to install it
Isolate the pump from mains power before starting. Remove the stainless steel band clamp that secures the motor to the pump body, withdraw the old motor, and slide the replacement onto the existing seal plate, aligning the shaft key. Torque the clamp to the manufacturer’s specification and replace the shaft seal as a matter of course — reusing an old seal on a new motor shaft is the most common cause of premature wet-end leaks. Electrical reconnection must be carried out by a qualified electrician in accordance with local wiring regulations.
Why genuine Pentair matters
Aftermarket motors for this pump family are widely available, but non-OEM units commonly use undersized bearings, thinner winding wire, and inferior shaft materials that corrode or seize within a single season. The genuine Pentair motor uses SKF sealed bearings and a stainless steel AISI 304 drive-end shaft, matching the original design specification. Fitting a genuine part also preserves any remaining warranty on the pump wet end.
