The HI1036-1802 is a combination electrode that measures pH, ORP and temperature in a single probe body, with an amplified output signal and a 2 metre cable. It is designed for Hanna Instruments BL12x and BL13x series pool and spa controllers, where it feeds all three readings back to the panel for dosing control. Typical use is in-line or in-tank monitoring of commercial pool water treatment systems.

What it fits

This electrode is intended for Hanna Instruments BL120, BL121, BL122 and BL13x series controllers that accept an amplified triple-parameter probe. The amplified signal allows the standard 2 metre cable run without the interference issues typical of unamplified pH electrodes. Always confirm the connector type and required parameter set against your controller model before ordering, as some panels are configured for pH-only or ORP-only probes.

Installation position

The probe is normally fitted into a flow cell or probe holder on the sample line downstream of the filter and upstream of the chemical injection points, so it reads treated water before dosing. Keep the sensing tip permanently wetted and mount the electrode vertically or at no more than a 45 degree tilt from vertical so the internal reference electrolyte stays in contact with the junction. Route the 2 metre cable away from pump motors and power cabling to protect signal quality.

Service life

Combination pH/ORP electrodes are consumable items and gradually lose response speed and slope as the glass ages and the reference junction fouls. In continuously running commercial pool applications a service life of roughly 12 to 24 months is common, depending on water chemistry, temperature and cleaning routine. Replace the electrode when calibration repeatedly fails, readings drift, or response to a change in chemistry becomes noticeably slow.

Ordering notes

The electrode is supplied individually and does not include a flow cell, mounting bracket, buffer solutions or cleaning fluids. Order calibration buffers and electrode storage solution separately so the probe can be conditioned and calibrated at commissioning. Store the new electrode with its protective cap filled with storage solution until it is installed; do not let the glass bulb dry out.
