Senninger sprinklers and pressure regulators

Senninger is known for low-pressure sprinklers and inline pressure regulators used in irrigation, greenhouse and misting applications. Here you will find the Mini Wobbler full-circle sprinkler in its colour-coded nozzle sizes together with a plastic pressure regulator, the components most often replaced on a working line. Around a pool these parts tend to appear in garden and planting irrigation, in cooling or misting circuits on terraces, and anywhere backwash or service water is distributed at low pressure over a wide area.

The sprinklers listed here are all full-circle Mini Wobbler heads with a ½” male thread, supplied with a fixed nozzle. The nozzle is identified both by a number and by a colour, which is the quickest way to recognise a head already installed on a riser or a drop tube:

  • #4 light blue – 1.59 mm nozzle, the smallest in this selection and the lowest flow.
  • #5 beige – 1.98 mm nozzle.
  • #6 gold – 2.38 mm nozzle.
  • #7 lime – 2.78 mm nozzle.
  • #8 lavender – 3.18 mm nozzle, the largest here and the highest flow of the five.

Alongside the sprinklers there is a plastic inline pressure regulator with a 1″ female thread in the black and white housing of the PMR series, type PMR-15.

Choosing the right Mini Wobbler nozzle

Nozzle choice sets both the flow per head and the wetted diameter, so it determines how many heads a lateral can carry and how closely they must be spaced. Larger nozzle numbers pass more water and throw further; smaller numbers give a finer, gentler application that suits beds, nursery stock and anything that must not be washed out.

  • Match what is already installed. If one head in a row has failed, read the colour of a neighbouring sprinkler and order the same number so the line stays balanced.
  • Count the heads on the line. Flow per head multiplies quickly; moving up one nozzle size across a full lateral can leave the far end short of pressure.
  • Check the thread before ordering. These heads use a ½” male connection, which screws into a riser, a stake adapter or a drop tube with a matching female fitting.
  • Think about spacing and overlap. Full-circle heads are normally laid out so that the patterns overlap; a smaller nozzle usually means tighter spacing.
  • Consider the droplet. The wobbling action spreads water as a pattern of moving streams rather than a mist, which helps in light wind.

Pressure regulation and why it matters

Low-pressure sprinklers only deliver their intended pattern within a working pressure band. If supply pressure is too high the stream breaks up and water drifts; too low and the pattern collapses towards the head. An inline regulator holds the downstream pressure steady regardless of modest variation on the inlet side, which keeps the distribution even along a lateral and between zones at different heights.

The number in a PMR model name refers to the pressure it is built to hold, so a PMR-15 maintains a lower outlet pressure than higher-numbered versions of the same body. Regulators are direction-sensitive: install them with the flow arrow pointing downstream, after the valve and filter, and allow a short straight run before the first outlet. The 1″ female thread fits a standard zone manifold or the head of a lateral.

Fitting, maintenance and wear parts

Grit is the main enemy of small nozzles, so a filter upstream of the line is worth keeping clean. Symptoms worth checking before replacing a whole head are a stream that no longer wobbles, a pattern that has gone one-sided, or a head that weeps at the thread. Tighten plastic threads by hand with PTFE tape rather than a wrench, and note the nozzle colour of every head when you dismantle a line so that it can be rebuilt the same way.

Stocked here are the five Mini Wobbler full-circle sprinklers covering nozzles #4 to #8, from 1.59 mm up to 3.18 mm, all with the ½” male connection, plus the plastic PMR-15 pressure regulator with 1″ female thread.

The aim is to keep the parts that actually fail or get changed available as single items, so one worn head or one tired regulator can be swapped without rebuilding the zone. Each product is listed with its nozzle size, colour code and article number so the right replacement can be identified from the head in your hand.
