What this screw nut does in the pump

The wing nut is the hand-tightened fastener that clamps the pre-filter lid shut against its O-ring. Isolate and de-pressurise the pump. Unscrew and discard the damaged nut(s) from the hinge stud(s). Thread the replacement nut clockwise until finger-tight, then give a firm quarter-turn to compress the O-ring evenly. Do not use tools — over-torquing cracks the polycarbonate lid. Restart the pump and check for air ingress at the lid joint.
