The HI10053 is a combination pH and temperature electrode from the Hanna Instruments Pool Line range, built for continuous measurement in commercial pool water treatment. It carries a Quick-DIN connector and is designed to work with BL100 series pH controllers and dosing panels. The integrated temperature sensor allows the controller to apply automatic temperature compensation to the pH reading.

The probe is normally mounted in an in-line probe holder or flow cell on the measuring bypass loop, downstream of the filter and upstream of the chemical injection point. Keep the sensing bulb permanently wetted and oriented so air cannot collect around it, generally with the tip pointing down or at an angle. Push the Quick-DIN plug into the controller socket and turn to lock, then calibrate the controller with fresh buffer solutions before returning the panel to service.

Glass pH electrodes are consumables and gradually lose slope and response speed as the junction fouls and the reference solution depletes. In continuously dosed pool water, typical working life is around one year, though this varies with water chemistry, temperature and cleaning routine. Replace the probe when calibration fails, when readings drift or respond slowly, or when the offset falls outside the controller’s accepted range.

The HI10053 is supplied as a single electrode and does not include buffer solutions, cleaning solution or a probe holder. Order calibration buffers separately and keep the protective wetting cap and its storage solution for any period the probe is out of the line.
