This is the OEM prefilter basket for the Poolstar Freeflo Racer filtration pump range, sitting inside the pump’s strainer housing between the pool’s suction line and the impeller. Its mesh construction catches leaves, hair, and coarse debris before they reach the pump internals, keeping water flowing freely through the hydraulic circuit.

What this prefilter basket does in the Freeflo Racer

The basket intercepts all solid debris drawn in through the suction line before it can contact the impeller. A clogged or cracked basket lets debris bypass the strainer chamber, accelerating impeller wear and risking a hydraulic blockage. Replacing it restores the pump’s first line of mechanical protection and maintains rated flow rate across the full filtration cycle.

Switch the pump off and isolate the suction and discharge valves. Unscrew or quarter-turn the Cam and Ramp lid — no tools required on most Freeflo configurations. Lift out the old basket, rinse the strainer chamber, and drop the new basket in until it seats fully. Refit the lid, open the valves, and re-prime the pump. The whole procedure takes under five minutes.
