Rated at 25 g/h chlorine output, this replacement electrolysis cell is the direct service part for Emaux SSC25-E salt chlorinators used in residential and semi-commercial pools. The cell ships complete with top cover and O-rings, so the swap can be carried out in a single maintenance visit without sourcing additional seals. Constructed with ruthenium-coated titanium electrode plates, it is built to withstand the demanding electrochemical environment of continuous salt-water electrolysis.

Electrolysis output & pool sizing

At full rated output of 25 g/h, this cell is matched to pools where the SSC25-E controller was originally specified — typically residential pools up to roughly 50 m³. Because the chlorine production rate can be dialled back on the control unit, the cell also performs well in smaller pools run at a reduced duty cycle, extending electrode life in the process. Maintaining pool salinity in the 4,000–6,000 ppm range (using 99 % pure NaCl) is essential to protect the titanium plates and achieve the rated output.

Salt-cell life & care

Cell longevity depends heavily on polarity-reversal frequency and scale management: a reversal interval of at least four hours is recommended to prevent premature wear of the titanium coating. Annual electrode cleaning with a dedicated liquid cell cleaner, combined with closing the chlorinator bypass during filter backwashing, will limit calcium scale build-up and keep efficiency high. Removing the cell before winterisation protects it from damage during cold-weather shut-down periods.

Compatibility & fitment

This cell is a verified replacement for SSC25-E and SSC45-E units and uses the same cell-housing connection as the original factory part, ensuring correct communication with the control board and preventing spurious error codes. Confirm the connector type on units manufactured before 2017, as the connection profile may differ. The cell housing plumbs into the return line after the filter via standard union fittings.
