What this impeller and diffuser kit does in the Freeflo pump

The impeller spins on the motor shaft to draw water through the strainer pot and accelerate it outward by centrifugal force. The diffuser encloses the impeller eye and uses a set of stationary vanes to convert that velocity into pressure, sealing the impeller chamber against the pump housing. When either component is worn, cracked, or clogged, the pump loses head pressure and flow rate immediately.

How to install it

Isolate and drain the pump, then remove the pump housing bolts to access the seal plate. Unscrew the impeller from the motor shaft (left-hand thread on most Freeflo builds — hold the motor shaft steady with a flat-bladed tool through the fan end). Slide the old diffuser off, fit the new diffuser, then thread the new impeller on firmly. Reassemble in reverse order, re-prime, and check for leaks before returning to service. The job takes approximately 20–30 minutes with standard tools.
