Delivering a rated flow of 9.71 m³/h at 230 VAC and drawing just 2.6 A, the Hayward PWL 0.5 HP sits in the middle of the European PWL single-speed pump range — well matched to residential in-ground pools of roughly 30–60 m³ where reliable, consistent circulation is the priority. The 50 mm glue-socket connection integrates directly into standard solvent-weld pipework, keeping installation clean and leak-free without the need for union fittings.

Hydraulic performance & pool sizing

At 9.71 m³/h the PWL 0.5 HP can turn over a 50 m³ pool in approximately five hours — well within the recommended daily filtration cycle for most European climates. The Noryl impeller is dimensionally stable across the pump’s rated temperature range (up to 35 °C), resists corrosion from pool chemicals, and maintains hydraulic efficiency over extended service life.

Motor & materials

The motor runs on single-phase 230 VAC and is housed in a polycarbonate cover that withstands UV exposure and poolside humidity. Internal wetted components are protected by a stainless steel 304 mechanical seal and a stainless steel shaft, minimising corrosion risk in chlorinated or salt-chlorinated water. At 8.8 kg and 504 mm in length, the pump is compact enough to fit in most standard plant-room arrangements.

Mounting & connection

The 50 mm glue-socket ports allow direct solvent-welding to uPVC pipework — the most common pipe standard in European pool installations — removing the need for additional adapters in new-build or like-for-like replacement projects. The pump body is designed for horizontal installation and can be plumbed alongside Hayward filter and valve assemblies for a cohesive system.
