The Flotide SMG500 is a professional-grade side-mount sand filter built from UV-resistant, gelcoated fibreglass-reinforced polyester — the same robust construction used in marine applications. The SMG500 is engineered for private swimming pools and leisure water installations up to 50 m³ in volume. Its 0.2 m² filter area and 10 m³/h maximum throughput deliver thorough mechanical filtration using standard silica sand or glass media (100 kg required, not included). Operating at up to 2.5 bar and a maximum water temperature of 43 °C, the filter is compatible with a wide range of pool pumps using 50 mm (1½″) metric or imperial glue-socket pipework.

Qualidade de fabrico

The tank is moulded from gelcoated polyester — a fibreglass-reinforced composite with a smooth, UV-stable outer surface that resists yellowing and embrittlement even under prolonged direct sunlight. The mirror-smooth gelcoat inner walls discourage biofilm adhesion, keeping the media bed cleaner for longer. A transparent lid allows a quick visual check of sand levels and condition without opening the vessel, while an integrated air-release valve ensures safe and simple start-up.

Instalação e montagem

The six-position side-mount multiport valve (filter, backwash, rinse, recirculate, waste, closed) is mounted laterally on the tank body, giving clear access for valve adjustment and backwashing without removing the lid or disturbing pipework above. Connections are 50 mm / 1½″ and accept both metric and imperial glue sockets, making the SMG500 straightforward to integrate into new builds or retrofits across European plumbing standards. At 18.3 kg (tank only, without sand), the unit can be manoeuvred and positioned by a single installer before media loading.
