Description

Zodiac pH probe for dosing pump R0819800 P19

The Zodiac pH probe for dosing pump R0819800 is the original P19 pH sensor with 3 metre cable and BNC connector, designed for automatic pH control on Zodiac
dosing pumps and salt chlorinator controllers. It continuously measures the water acidity so the dosing pump can add the correct amount of pH minus or pH
plus for stable, comfortable pool water.

Main features of the Zodiac pH probe R0819800

  • Original Zodiac P19 pH electrode for automatic pH regulation systems.
  • Supplied with approximately 3 metres of cable and BNC connector for easy connection.
  • Designed for continuous use in pool water with salt or traditional disinfection.
  • Fine glass measuring tip protected by a robust body for a long service life.

Compatibility with Zodiac dosing pumps and controllers

The R0819800 pH probe is used on several Zodiac pH regulators and salt chlorinators equipped with automatic pH control. It replaces earlier probe versions
and is fitted as standard on many units produced from 2019 onwards.

  • Zodiac pH Expert pH controller.
  • Zodiac pH Perfect pH controller.
  • Zodiac Tri pH and Tri PRO salt chlorinators with pH module.
  • Zodiac pH Link and Dual Link control modules.
  • Other Zodiac systems that specify P19 probe code R0819800.

Always check the label on your controller or the exploded parts diagram. If the pH probe is listed as P19 with reference R0819800, this is the correct
replacement sensor.

How the Zodiac pH probe works

The probe measures the pH through a sensitive glass membrane at its tip. The signal is transmitted through the integrated cable and BNC connector to the
dosing pump or salt chlorinator, which then regulates the injection of acid or base. A healthy, calibrated probe is essential for precise pH control and
for avoiding over dosing of chemicals.

  • Measures the pH value in real time in the bypass or sampling line.
  • Sends an analogue signal to the pH controller for proportional dosing.
  • Helps keep pH in the ideal range for swimmer comfort and chlorine efficiency.

When to replace the Zodiac R0819800 pH probe

Like all pH electrodes, the R0819800 probe is a consumable part. Its response slows down over time and the readings can drift if the glass and reference
system become worn or contaminated.

  • Large difference between manual test kit readings and the value shown by the controller.
  • Very slow stabilisation of the pH reading after calibration or after a change in water conditions.
  • Probe older than several seasons, even if it still appears physically intact.
  • Mechanical damage, impact on the glass tip or cracked body.

Replacing a tired or damaged probe with a new Zodiac R0819800 sensor restores accurate pH measurement and allows the dosing pump to work correctly again.

Installation and calibration guidelines

Installing the Zodiac pH probe for dosing pump R0819800 is straightforward, but it must be done carefully to protect the sensor and ensure correct
connection.

  • Store the new probe upright in its protective cap until installation, keeping the tip moist in the storage solution.
  • Switch off the controller and close valves in the sampling line before removing the old probe.
  • Unscrew the old sensor from its holder, avoiding any twisting of the cable, and clean the probe holder if needed.
  • Insert the new probe into the holder, tighten by hand until the sealing ring seats correctly and connect the BNC plug fully to the pH input.
  • Perform a calibration with fresh buffer solutions according to the controller instructions before returning the system to service.

Correct calibration after installation is essential to obtain reliable readings and to protect pool finishes and equipment from incorrect pH.

Care and maintenance for a longer service life

With basic care, the Zodiac P19 pH probe R0819800 can provide accurate readings for several seasons. Good maintenance reduces operating costs and keeps pH
control stable.

  • Never wipe the glass tip with abrasive cloths; rinse gently with clean water instead.
  • Periodically clean light deposits with solutions recommended for pH electrodes.
  • Never allow the probe tip to dry out; use storage solution or fresh tap water during shutdowns.
  • Check calibration at the start of each season and after major water treatment changes.

By following these guidelines and replacing the probe when its response declines, the Zodiac pH probe for dosing pump R0819800 keeps automatic dosing
systems working reliably and helps maintain a well balanced pool.
