The F980180AM is a T5 UV-C lamp that emits at both 254 nm (germicidal) and 185 nm (ozone-generating) wavelengths. Ozone-capable lamps use synthetic quartz that passes both wavelengths, producing ozone as an additional water sanitiser alongside direct UV-C disinfection.
Dual-Action: UV-C + Ozone
The 185 nm radiation converts atmospheric oxygen into ozone (O₃), which dissolves in the water for oxidation-based sanitisation. This dual effect reduces the chemical load needed for clean, safe pool or pond water.
Ozone-Compatible Quartz Required
Always pair this lamp with an ozone-rated quartz sleeve. Standard quartz blocks the 185 nm wavelength and will prevent ozone production. The AM suffix confirms individual retail packaging.
