The QG049 is a high-purity quartz glass sleeve designed to protect UV-C lamps in pool, pond and water treatment systems. Quartz glass transmits UV-C radiation (254 nm) with minimal absorption, keeping the lamp’s germicidal output at maximum effectiveness while isolating it from direct water contact.
When to Replace
Quartz glass should be replaced whenever it is cracked, visibly cloudy or shows mineral scaling that cannot be removed by cleaning. A degraded quartz sleeve can block up to 50% of UV-C output, dramatically reducing water disinfection performance. The SPT series uses a 30 mm tube for mid-to-high power amalgam lamps. The QG049 fits the mid-length SPT housing configuration.
