What this lateral does

Laterals sit at the bottom of the filter tank and form the collector that gathers filtered water and returns it to the circulation system. The slotted structure retains sand or glass media while letting clean water pass. When a lateral cracks, filter media can bypass the filter bed and end up back in the pool, often accompanied by poorer filtration results.

Installation notes
