AstralPool – Vertical DE Filter Grid FG-1005 60 sq ft 30″

This is a genuine AstralPool replacement vertical filter grid (part reference FG-1005) for 60 sq ft diatomaceous earth (DE) filter systems. Measuring 30 inches in length, it is the internal filtration element that holds the DE powder coating to capture fine particles from pool water. It corresponds to position 17 in the official Fluidra/AstralPool exploded-view diagram for the 24-36-48-60 Yellow DE Filter (FDE60).

How It Works

DE filter grids are rigid frames covered with woven polypropylene fabric arranged around a central manifold inside the filter tank. Diatomaceous earth powder coats the fabric surface, creating a filtration barrier capable of capturing debris and impurities down to the sub-10-micron range — finer than sand or cartridge filtration alone. When the grid fabric wears, tears, or becomes permanently clogged, water clarity suffers and the grid must be replaced to restore full filter performance.

Compatibility

This grid is designed for use with the AstralPool 24-36-48-60 Yellow Diatomaceous Earth Filter series, specifically the 60 sq ft (FDE60) model. A complete grid set for the FDE60 typically requires multiple grids; verify the total quantity needed from your filter’s exploded-view diagram before ordering. Always cross-reference your filter’s part diagram (position 17) to confirm fitment before purchase.

Why Genuine Matters

Using a genuine AstralPool replacement grid ensures the correct fabric weave density, frame dimensions, and manifold interface for your FDE60 filter. Off-brand grids may not seal correctly against the manifold, leading to DE bypass, reduced filtration efficiency, and potential damage to downstream equipment. A genuine part also maintains any applicable warranty on your filter system.
