Hydro-S – Butterfly Valve PVC-U 160mm Flange DN150 PN10 10bar
Rated to 10 bar at a nominal diameter of DN150 (160 mm pipe OD), this Hydro-S Type 7500 butterfly valve is one of the largest lever-operated PVC-U flanged isolators in the range — well suited to high-volume plant rooms, commercial pool circulation headers, water-treatment pipework, and large-diameter bypass or branch lines. Its PN10 flange pattern (PCD 250 mm) aligns directly with standard DIN EN 1092-1 PN10 counterpart flanges, making it straightforward to integrate into existing European pipework systems. A full quarter-turn of the blue lever opens or closes the valve, providing fast on/off isolation without the torque demands of a ball valve at this bore size.
Corrosion-resistant materials throughout
The valve body is moulded in unplasticised PVC-U, giving excellent resistance to chlorinated water, mild acids, and the salt-laden environments typical of pool plant rooms. The housing is reinforced glass-fibre PP (PP GF) for structural rigidity at the larger disc diameter, the disc seal is EPDM for reliable shut-off and long service life in contact with pool chemicals, and the spindle is steel — kept isolated from the fluid by the EPDM liner. Together these material choices ensure the valve remains dimensionally stable and corrosion-free across its full 0 °C – 40 °C working range.
Flange geometry & installation
The Type 7500 at DN150 presents a face-to-face (W-1) of 66 mm and an overall body depth (W-2) of 115 mm, with a bolt-hole pitch circle diameter of 250 mm and an overall radius of 258 mm — dimensions that must be respected when planning pipe supports and actuator clearance. The valve mounts between two standard PN10 flanges; because it is a wafer-pattern body, mating flanges and bolts are required on both sides and are not supplied. At this size, professional installation with correct bolt torque sequencing is strongly recommended to achieve an even seal on the EPDM liner.
Lever operation & flow control
The blue polypropylene lever provides tactile open/closed feedback and locks positively in both positions, giving operators a clear visual indication of valve state — important on large commercial plant rooms where many valves may be present. Being a butterfly valve, the disc remains partially in the flow stream even when fully open, which produces a lower pressure drop than a gate valve of comparable bore while still offering fast, reliable isolation. The lever can typically be replaced with an actuator bracket on this valve series, allowing future automation if site requirements change.
