Wintering Plug – Rubber Reinforced with Nylon 1½” (41–48 mm)

Sized to seal pipe openings between 41 mm and 48 mm, this nylon-reinforced rubber expansion plug provides a reliable watertight seal in 1½” pool return lines, skimmer outlets, and cleaner lines during the winter close-down. It is the low-cost first line of defence against freeze damage to pool plumbing, and doubles as a handy flow-stop when carrying out equipment repairs or pressure-testing lines.

Expansion fit & sealing mechanism

Tightening the wing nut compresses the rubber body outward, expanding it firmly against the pipe wall to form a secure, water-tight seal. The nylon reinforcement prevents the rubber from over-deforming under tightening torque, ensuring a consistent grip across the full 41–48 mm diameter range without cracking or slipping over repeated seasonal use.

Material durability & corrosion resistance

The rubber compound resists pool chemicals, chlorine, and prolonged submersion, while the nylon reinforcement adds structural rigidity that plain rubber plugs lack. There are no ferrous metal components to rust in contact with pool water, making the plug straightforward to remove even after a full winter season.

Where to use it

Suited to 1½” (DN40) return fittings, skimmer bottom outlets, and vacuum/cleaner line ports on both inground and above-ground pools. It is equally useful as a temporary shut-off plug when servicing a pump, filter, or heat pump without fully draining the pool.
