The HI3230B is a platinum ORP (redox) electrode with a PEI plastic body and a sealed gel electrolyte, terminated in a standard BNC connector. It measures the oxidation-reduction potential of pool and spa water, which is the key indicator of disinfection effectiveness. It belongs to Hanna Instruments’ range of ORP probes used with benchtop, portable and panel-mounted controllers that accept a BNC input.

The BNC connector makes this electrode compatible with any Hanna Instruments meter or controller featuring a standard BNC ORP input, including portable testers, benchtop meters and pool dosing controllers. Because the gel electrolyte is sealed, no refilling solution is required. Always confirm your instrument expects a millivolt ORP signal rather than a dedicated amperometric sensor.

Installatie-instructies

Remove the protective cap and rinse the platinum tip with distilled water before first use. Screw or clamp the electrode into its holder so the sensing tip stays permanently immersed and free of trapped air bubbles. Connect the BNC to the meter, keep the cable away from pump motors and dosing lines to limit electrical interference, and mount the probe upright or at a slight angle rather than pointing downward.

Levensduur

ORP electrodes are consumables and typically last one to two years in continuous pool service, depending on water chemistry and temperature. Replace the electrode when readings drift, respond sluggishly to test solution, or no longer reach the expected millivolt value after cleaning. A platinum tip that stays discoloured after cleaning with an oxidising or descaling solution indicates end of life.

Supplied as a single electrode; meters, cables, holders and ORP test solutions are ordered separately. The gel-filled design cannot be refilled or rebuilt, so plan a spare into your maintenance stock. Check the body diameter against your existing flow cell or probe holder before ordering.
