This is the genuine Pentair 1/4″ drain plug supplied complete with its sealing O-ring, sold as a pack of two. It fits the threaded drain port on the UltraFlow Plus pump volute and provides the watertight closure needed to keep the pump primed during operation and sealed during storage.

What this drain plug does in the UltraFlow Plus

The drain plug seals the 1/4″ BSP drain port on the pump body. During normal operation it holds system pressure and prevents water ingress or escape at the volute base. When you need to drain the pump — for winterisation, seal replacement, or pipework work — you remove it to allow the volute and suction line to empty completely. The bundled O-ring compresses against the pump housing to create a leak-free seat without thread sealant.

R98207700 is listed directly in the Pentair UltraFlow factory parts schedule and covers the full single-speed and booster UltraFlow range: P-UFL-071, P-UFL-073, P-UFL-101, P-UFL-103, P-UFL-151, and P-UFL-153, along with their P-UFL-B booster-series equivalents. If your pump carries a different Pentair model designation, cross-check the drain port thread size before ordering.

A weeping drain port — even a slow drip at the base of the volute — points directly to a degraded O-ring or a cracked plug body. You may also see the pump losing prime faster than usual as air is drawn back through a poorly sealed drain port. Because the plug is removable by hand or with a flathead, inspect it any time you service the pump; the O-ring in particular hardens and flattens with age and chlorinated water exposure.

Isolate and switch off the pump, then open the air-bleed valve to release system pressure. Unscrew the old plug anti-clockwise by hand or with a flathead screwdriver. Seat the new O-ring into the groove on the replacement plug, apply a thin film of silicone-based lubricant, then thread it in clockwise by hand until finger-tight. A quarter-turn with a flathead is sufficient — do not overtighten or you risk cracking the ABS volute thread boss. Reprime and check for weeping before returning the pump to service.
