What this lateral does

Laterals sit at the bottom of the filter tank and form the “collector” that gathers filtered water and routes it back to the return line. The slotted design keeps sand or glass media inside the filter while allowing clean water through. When a lateral breaks or becomes distorted, media can bypass the filtration stage and end up back in the pool, often together with a noticeable drop in water clarity.

Installation notes

After refilling with the correct media, backwash and rinse before returning to filtration.
