Description

Pure Genius salt chlorinator ORP probe

The Pure Genius salt chlorinator ORP probe is the dedicated redox sensor for Pure Genius low salinity salt systems with optional ORP control.
This high quality electrode measures the oxidation reduction potential (ORP) of the pool water so the chlorinator can automatically adjust chlorine
production and keep disinfection at a stable, safe level with minimal manual intervention.

Function of the Pure Genius ORP probe

The ORP probe continuously measures the redox potential of the water in millivolts. This value reflects the disinfecting power of the chlorine present
and is more informative than free chlorine alone, especially in pools with fluctuating temperature, pH or stabiliser levels. By feeding this signal to
the Pure Genius controller, the chlorinator can increase or reduce chlorine output to maintain the target ORP set point and keep the water clear and safe.

Technical details

  • Original ORP (redox) probe designed for Pure Genius low salinity salt chlorinators.
  • Measurement range suitable for typical pool control points around 650โ€“750 mV.
  • Robust body with noble metal sensing tip for stable and repeatable readings.
  • Factory assembled cable with connector matched to the Pure Genius control unit.
  • Probe body with threaded section for installation in a sensor holder or bypass cell.
  • Designed for continuous operation in pools with low salt levels from about 1 to 5 g/l.

Compatibility and applications

This ORP probe is intended for Pure Genius salt chlorinators equipped with the redox option. On these models the controller uses the ORP measurement to
fine tune chlorine production via the inverter cell, combining energy efficient operation with precise residual control.

  • Compatible with Pure Genius systems configured with ORP (redox) regulation.
  • Suitable for private pools and small commercial pools that require stable disinfection.
  • Works alongside the dedicated Pure Genius pH probe to maintain both pH and ORP at their set points.
  • Recommended as a direct replacement for the original ORP sensor supplied with the chlorinator.

Installation and commissioning

The Pure Genius salt chlorinator ORP probe is supplied ready to be installed in the existing sensor holder or measuring chamber of the system.
Replacing the probe is typically done during scheduled maintenance or when readings become unstable.

  • Switch off the filtration pump and disconnect the power supply to the chlorinator before starting work.
  • Close isolation valves or otherwise depressurise the section of pipe where the probe is mounted.
  • Unscrew the old ORP probe from its holder, catching any water that may drain from the measuring point.
  • Disconnect the old cable from the control unit and route it out of the cable guides.
  • Inspect the probe holder and O ring; clean and replace the seal if it shows flattening or cracking.
  • Install the new probe with the supplied sealing ring and hand tighten until snug, without over tightening.
  • Connect the new cable to the Pure Genius controller at the ORP input, following the markings on the terminals or connector.

After installation, follow the controller instructions to confirm the ORP reading and, if required, carry out any calibration or referencing procedure
recommended by the manufacturer.

Maintenance and typical service life

Like all electrochemical ORP sensors, the Pure Genius probe is a consumable component. Its lifetime depends on water balance, temperature,
disinfectant level and general maintenance, but correct handling will significantly prolong its useful life.

  • Rinse the probe with clean water if it is removed from the line and avoid wiping the sensing tip with abrasive materials.
  • Keep pH within the recommended range, since extreme pH values can affect redox readings and accelerate wear.
  • Check ORP readings regularly against manual tests or reference values to detect drift early.
  • Inspect the cable and connector for damage, moisture ingress or corrosion inside the technical room.

When the probe reaches the end of its life it may still produce a signal, but readings will become slow, unstable or inaccurate. At that point,
replacing it with a new Pure Genius ORP probe restores precise chlorine control.

Typical symptoms of a worn ORP probe

  • Chlorinator struggles to maintain the desired ORP set point despite correct chlorine production and stable pH.
  • ORP reading changes very slowly after dosing or after a shock treatment.
  • Values fluctuate strongly without apparent cause or differ significantly from manual test indications.
  • The controller displays frequent ORP error messages or requires repeated adjustments to the set point.
