This is the genuine Fluidra replacement defrost temperature sensor (white connector) for Zodiac Z200 and PI20 series swimming pool heat pumps. It is an NTC thermistor that monitors evaporator temperature and signals the control board to trigger automatic defrost cycles, protecting the unit during cold or damp operating conditions.

How It Works

Mounted on the evaporator, the sensor continuously measures surface temperature and feeds data to the heat pump’s main board. When frost begins to form, the board initiates a reverse-cycle defrost sequence automatically — allowing the Z200 to operate reliably down to -5 °C. A faulty or disconnected sensor causes a defrost sensor fault code to appear on the display and can prevent the unit from heating effectively.

Compatibility

This white-connector sensor is the correct defrost sensor for the Zodiac Z200 (all MD2–MD5 variants) and PI20 series heat pumps running R410A refrigerant. Note that the Z200 range also uses a black-connector water temperature sensor (WWA01045) and a red-connector air temperature sensor (WWA01046) — always verify your connector colour before ordering.

Installation

Replacing the defrost sensor is a straightforward procedure for a qualified pool technician or refrigeration engineer: unplug the white connector from the main board, remove the sensor probe from its evaporator clip, fit the new sensor, and reconnect. No refrigerant handling is required. Always isolate mains power before working inside the unit.
