The BIOV3-CL-E2P is the original 2-plate replacement electrolysis cell for the Bio-Pool® C-line V3 salt chlorinator. As the most compact cell in the C-line V3 range, it is the right choice for very small pools or for low-load installations where minimal chlorine output is sufficient. Manufactured at the Bio-Pool plant in Toulouse, France, it is an OEM part that guarantees compatibility with the V3 electrolyzer system.

Salt Electrolysis in Brief

An electrolysis cell is the heart of any salt chlorinator. It uses a low-voltage direct current applied across titanium plates to convert dissolved salt into chlorine in situ. The chlorine sanitises the water, then reverts to salt, making the process self-sustaining. Salt levels are consumed very slowly — mainly through splashing — and are topped up just once or twice per season. The result is stable, consistent sanitation with no chlorine odour and no skin irritation from over-chlorination.

C-line V3 — Smart Chlorination

The Bio-Pool C-line V3 platform introduced a communication card embedded in the cell itself. When a V3 cell is connected to the electrolyzer, the card transmits identification data and runtime hours to the control unit. The electrolyzer uses this data to auto-calibrate output, display remaining cell life and generate maintenance alerts. This two-way communication requires a genuine V3 cell; the V2 generation and third-party cells cannot provide the required data signal.

2-Plate Configuration

Two titanium plates at 100 × 85 mm is the minimum configuration in the C-line V3 range. This format suits very small domestic pools, splash pools and compact installations where the larger 3-, 4- or 7-plate cells would produce more chlorine than required at minimum duty cycle. Using the correctly-sized cell improves plate longevity, reduces energy consumption and keeps the electrolyzer operating in its optimal duty window.

Self-Cleaning and Maintenance

The V3 self-cleaning polarity reversal cycle prevents calcium scale from accumulating on the titanium plates, which is the leading cause of reduced output and early cell replacement. Under standard operating conditions with salt maintained in the 4.5–6 g/L range, the self-cleaning system is sufficient to keep the plates in good condition without manual intervention.
