The BIOV3-CL-E3P is the original 3-plate replacement electrolysis cell for the Bio-Pool® C-line V3 salt chlorinator system. Produced at the Bio-Pool factory in Toulouse, France, it replaces a worn or end-of-life cell with a guaranteed original part that restores the chlorinator to full specification.

Salt Electrolysis — The Technology Behind the Cell

Electrolysis cells work by splitting dissolved salt in pool water into chlorine gas and sodium hydroxide using a direct electrical current across titanium electrode plates. The chlorine dissolves immediately into hypochlorous acid, which sanitises the water before reverting to salt. The closed-loop process means the salt is never consumed — only topped up to compensate for splash-out — making salt electrolysis one of the most cost-effective and comfortable pool sanitation methods available.

Why V3 Matters — Intelligent Cell Communication

Unlike the previous V2 generation, the C-line V3 cell carries an onboard communication card that talks directly to the V3 electrolyzer’s processor. This enables the electrolyzer to read the cell’s identity and accumulated operating hours, to calibrate chlorine output precisely to pool demand, and to flag when the cell is approaching end of service life. Fitting a genuine V3 cell ensures these smart features function correctly; non-original or V2 cells will not provide the communication signal the V3 unit expects.

3-Plate Format — Compact Output for Small Volumes

The 3-plate BIOV3-CL-E3P is Bio-Pool’s entry-level C-line V3 cell, intended for small residential pools and compact installations. Three titanium plates at 100 × 85 mm each provide enough electrode surface area to maintain safe chlorine levels in a smaller pool while keeping the cell housing dimensions identical to larger variants — so upgrading to more plates in the future simply means swapping the cell body, not the plumbing or electrolyzer.

Self-Cleaning Operation

Calcium scaling is the main enemy of electrode longevity. The C-line V3 self-cleaning cycle reverses plate polarity at set intervals, mechanically dislodging carbonate deposits before they can build up into a hard scale layer. Combined with correct salt dosing, this keeps plates productive and significantly reduces the frequency of chemical cleaning interventions.
